David,
 One thing i recomend to people with these types of problems is to clean the
registry.If your not familiar with edditing the registry I suggest you
download an application called Microsoft Regclean.

What your having a problem with appears to be the ASPI layer, You may try
simply reinstalling the ASPI layer or "force" the aspi layer.This sometimes
involves reinstalling the OS then installing the ASPI layer, Ahead Software
offers the ASPI files on thier website.
