My husband and I just returned from a short visit to the gulf coast of
Texas where we managed to eat several times. It was not easy, and took
much explaining before feeling that I could eat at these fish places.

The caution I wish to extend applies to anyone traveling where there is
high humidity. Many places, especially with outdoor seating, will put
something into the salt and pepper shakers to keep them from caking.
Today I saw dry grains of rice in the salt shaker. Yesterday it was
broken up saltines. Who knows what else they might come up with? At
least these were clear glass, and I could see into them. I just decided
my baked potato didn't need any salt or pepper. So watch out! You
never know where the customs are different from what you expect.
