Hi

IF you are using a Pentium (or better) then no it probably won't effect
performance. However I have noticed that when I use Corel Draw on my Pentium
100 it is a tad slower than usual....although not alot probably by only 1sec
at most. This will however be lessened by a faster processor so if you have
a better one then it won't be a problem.
If you can do it, it would be a good idea to partition your HD and then only
compress one of the partitions, you keep all your fonts, files, pictures,
temporary files, other data on that and install all your programs (and
windows, yes it is a program not a virus *grin*) onto the uncompressed
partition. This will prevent their being a noticable speed loss when loading
your programs and will save you heaps of Diskspace...fonts are a major
culprit of diskspace stealing as they are often very small but can take up
32kb each (multiply that by your number of fonts....its alot if you have
alot of fonts) Another baddie is your Internet Cache so putting that on a
compressed drive saves hundreds of MB's and means you don't have to keep
deleting it.

Hope I helped
