   Not necessarily...I would assess that as a good possibility the card
is failing.

  Dear Kay:

    I would suggest you would be far better off trying another sound
card. For $15 to $25 you can buy an excellent Ensoniq, Yamaha chip card,
or even the PCI 128 Creative Labs card (I have that one which cost me 3
times as much 18 months ago). There comes a time of diminishing returns
for working out a computer problem (which you are hoping is merely a
software problem). Try the card in another machine of any OS and see if
it works. If it does then you might yet figure it out on your NT
machine. I assume you have a machine faster than 200 MHz and 32 MB of
RAM as that SB16 card requires that as a minimum. For an excellent guide
