   Depends on what you're doing (apps) and how fast are the other main
components (CPU, HD, video card). Windows 98 requires 16 MB to load core
components. Photodraw 2000 and Frontpage 2000 require 16 MB each. The
other Office components use 8 MB each. Multitasking requires more RAM.
It makes sense with RAM down in price nearly 500% since 1997 to buy 128
MB on new machines...256 MB for power users. 64 is barebones minimum in
my opinion for efficient performance and I have seen over 5,000
different machines running Windows 9X and installed Windows 9X over 1500
times. YMMV.
