The Houston Celiac-Sprue Support Group announces a new cookbook by
Carol Fenster, Ph.D., entitled "Special Diet Solutions: Healthy Cooking
without Wheat, gluten, Dairy, Eggs, Yeast, or Refined Sugar. It is
available from Savory Palate, Inc., 800/741-5418. Single copies are
$19.95 plus $3 shipping. Discounted group orders are available. Contact
Carol directly at 800 number.

All celiac diabetic who have given their name for the celiac/diabetic
list will be sent the introductory postcard announcement.

This new cookbook (190 pages) is extremely suitable for all celiacs and
celiac diabetics. We recommend you first read thoroughly the Glossary of
Ingredients and all Appendices. The Appendices address baking with
alternative sweeteners, dairy substitutes, egg substitutes, wheat-free
flours; d hidden sources of dairy products, corn, soy, yeast; and food
exchanges. (Carol does not use such alternative flours as amaranth,
quinoa, or others generally not recommended by CSA.)

"Special Diet Solutions" is an unique resource for people with multiple
food sensitivities, including celiac disease and diabetes. It suggests a
variety of substitutions that yield tasty solutions to dietary
restrictions.
