Butch, Here is the mic I referred to earlier. I have one of these and it
does have the four buttons that you were looking for.

HamPros

NS-508
(more info)

High Quality Condenser Desktop Microphone.
.Flexible Microphone Boom.
 .FM/SSB Audio Quality Selector Switch.
. Variable microphone gain.
.Up/Down Controls work for Kenwood FM mobile use only.
.Requires an optional cable specific for your radio.

I am using it with my 590 and don't have the batteries in it since I don't
need the amplifier.

I'm looking for a base mike for my kenwood with the 4 function keys. Does
anyone make one?
