Hi

Christopher said exactly what I was thinking both about software
versions and about IE and Firefox running together.

In fact, sometimes events occur close in time but are not related.
Perhaps the file corruption issue reflects a problem that might or
might not have anything to do with either of the browsers. Are you
having other system problems? Do you know of any repairs you really
should be getting around to? Why do you think things are getting
corrupted?

No guarantees this list can help, but maybe if you can tell us about
error messages or other behaviors, someone might be able to suggest
something.

You should be safe going with the XP version. If you were running
64-bit
Windows XP then I'm pretty sure you'd know it. Unlike Vista or Windows
7, you would have had to pretty much order a system with XP 64-bit as a
special request. 64-bit XP also didn't have the widespread device
support that you have in Vista or Widnows 7, so you'd probably be stuck
with a limited set of device drivers or you'd be scrambling around
looking for 64-bit XP device drivers. I'm also not sure what the status
of 64-bit support is for XP and the screen readers. I know they support
64-bit Windows, but I guess I always assumed this was for Vista and/or
Windows 7.

I'm a bit surprised that you ran into this problem running Ff and IE. I
run them both on three different systems, and I've never had this
problem. I'll run them simultaneously, use one or the other, jubmp back
and forth between the two, and like I said, all with no problems. I'm
even surprised that there's enough interaction or shared components
between the two to cause a corruption in one or the other.
