You should be safe going with the XP version. If you were running 64-bit
Windows XP then I'm pretty sure you'd know it. Unlike Vista or Windows
7, you would have had to pretty much order a system with XP 64-bit as a
special request. 64-bit XP also didn't have the widespread device
support that you have in Vista or Widnows 7, so you'd probably be stuck
with a limited set of device drivers or you'd be scrambling around
looking for 64-bit XP device drivers. I'm also not sure what the status
of 64-bit support is for XP and the screen readers. I know they support
64-bit Windows, but I guess I always assumed this was for Vista and/or
Windows 7.
I'm a bit surprised that you ran into this problem running Ff and IE. I
run them both on three different systems, and I've never had this
problem. I'll run them simultaneously, use one or the other, jubmp back
and forth between the two, and like I said, all with no problems. I'm
even surprised that there's enough interaction or shared components
between the two to cause a corruption in one or the other.
