One suggestion in addition to the others you received. I found a little, but
effective (so far) piece of  free diagnostic software called Data Lifeguard
(v2.8) from Western Digital. Although developed by WD, this will diagnose
most other HDs. If your HD is WD it has a program specific to WD. I have no
association with WD and this may be helpful to you before you invest in
another HD. I believe u can locate this on the WD website www.
websupport.wdc.com/diag. One negative, can only be used if your HD is less
than 137GB.
