Have you gotten in touch with Through the Looking Glass?  they're an
organization that helps parents w disabilities with just such issues.  I
think their website is lookingglass.org if not, do a search for Parents with
disabilities.

Perhaps your helper could assist you in putting your child on your shoulder.
