the short answer is, you can. all you need to do is a bit of motification on
audio cable.

Does the sound card have AUX connector, if so, you can use it.

My personal suggestion is, there are many software players that playback
audio via data cable, winMe/win2k/winXP all support play audio digitally,
which you don't need any audio cable at all.

Anyway, I'd not use my CDRW drive to playback audio CD, I use it for burning
CDs only.
