Just recently installed a raid System Using the RAID
Striping option. And yes, from everything I have read
you need two identical drives. AS they are partitioned
and Formated as one large Disk (Array). I used two IBM
40 Gig 7200 RPM drives in this systems, and the only
problem I had, was that Window 98se, after
partitioning the drives only seen 12.9 gigs!!! When in
fact it should have been 80 gig. But after the format,
everything was as it should be. And WOW what a speed
increase. The customer that recieved this system,
swears that it boots up faster than his monitor can
warm up!! A bit of an exageration, but still quite
impressive speed!

As for your NIC, if you turn off the DHCP option for
TCP/IP in your network settings, this wait will go
away, unless of course you need the DHCP option
