In natural systems, diversity can be both a source of strength or
weakness depending on the scale. What is seen as chaos at fine scales
can easily turn out to be all nice and smooth at broad scales.

Perhaps the proliferation of groups can be seen in the same light. Yes,
they may be sore eye or even make the process a little messy in the
short-term,  but in the long run they may be the thousand cuts we need
to bring down this ceiling.
