The two CPU's might not share identical pinouts. Double-check that your
board can handle a quad-core, and if it needs a BIOS flash in order to do
so.

Subject: [PCBUILD] Asus P5W DH Deluxe + Quad Core Extreme QX6800

I need some help trouble shooting a problem I have. I upgraded the CPU in my
current system from a P4 3.2 Ghz to the aforementioned Quad QX6800.

The system hangs on start-up, no POST and after a few minutes (2-3 mins) the
CPU cooler fan stops operating, chassis fans are still running. I list the
essentials on my system below.

Asus P5W DH Deluxe (Bios 2303)
Intel Quad Core Extreme QX6800
PNY 4GB (4x1GB) PC2-5300 DDR2-667
ATI X1950XTX 512 MB
Zalman CNPS9500 LED CPU Cooler
Thermaltake 700W Toughpower

When I replace the QX6800 with my original P4 CPU the system operates as
normal.
HELP greatly appreciated.
Thanks
