Thanx to all the replies to my query about gluten
in Doritos and in trail mix and bulk raisins.
(Sorry about missing the title: new e-mail reader!)

Doritos
-------
The consensus is that wheat is listed on the
ingredients of Doritos cheese and nacho flavours.
Everyone is helpful and politely implied or reminded
me to always read the ingredients, even of things
I've thought were ok before. (This is so much more
helpful than flames! Thanx!) Anyway, I recall that
after reacting I carefully reread the ingredients.
No wheat. Someone suggested that this is a recent
addition. So perhaps I got new recipe, old labelling?
Or maybe I'm blind. I don't have a package now to
recheck.

Anyway, apparently Doritos nacho and cheese flavour
are not good, but Cool Ranch supposedly is good -
but I've reacted to that one too, so I don't trust it.
Some people have not had any effects with this one,
though. Someone reminded me that we can always call
the company. (I haven't done this yet, and unless
there are regional disparities like there are with
cereals I don't think it's necessary now.)

Someone recommended Bearitos or Barbaras.
(I've never heard of them so they probably aren't
in my area.)

Someone had a corn intolerance.
Some people have other problems, such as to MSG.
Someone said most of Lay's products are GF EXCEPT
for the flavoured ones.

Raisins:
--------
csa/usa guide Sun-Maid and Del Monte dried fruits
(NOT fruit snacks) are OK.

Bulk foods:
----------
- cross-contamination is a hazard
- some dusted in oat flour (Dates are bad)
- some mixes have soy sauce
- some people react to other things.
  It's not necessarily gluten.

I was beginning to think I couldn't each much fat,
even though I can tolerate LOTS of cheese. So it's
nice to hear that there's a simpler explanation.
Thanx!

Stuart
