Hello,

I just found that the tissue transglutaminase test that I was given to
determine whether I have CD or not was based on IgA, not IgG. I was
positive for anti-gliadin IgG, but negative for anti-gliadin IgA. To my
knowledge, I was never tested for total IgA, so I'm not sure whether I might
be IgA deficient. Is it common practice to use an IgA test for tissue
transglutaminase? Should I consider this result questionable? If I request
a total IgA test, what would be the normal range, and what would constitute
deficiency? Would I need to be consuming gluten to get the total IgA test
now that I have been GF for some time?

Thank you,
Erin
