AIRLINES ARE GETTING BETTER
 I have traveled quite a bit this summer on British Airlines, Northwest
Airlines and Continental.  I have been surprised and pleased at the
gluten-free meals provided on all.  Continental has been a little sporadic
in the past, but all my meals were completely gluten free.  Once I was given
a fruit plate (on a glass plate), so obviously my GF meal was not included
on the flight, but the stewards substituted correctly.  I have written to
Continental to thank them for their service to celiac customers, and my
letter was acknowledged by a phone call.

I still recommend that celiacs bring along an apple or other fruit plus
crackers just in case the meal is not completely gluten-free.    If  the
airlines would label some of the items,  I would also feel better about the
meals.  Chicken breast on a bed of lettuce with a lemon slice seemed to be
GF, but I really didn't know if it had been marinated. (I've had this same
meal twice now.) The packaged coconut macaroon Jennies(r) cookie from  Red
Mill Farms, Brooklyn, NY,  was clearly labeled gluten free and lactose
free -- and delicious!  I wish you good luck in your travels!   - jyr
