Over the past week, there has been some discussion of General Foods refusal to
certify Jello as gluten free, in spite of the fact that the ingredient list
appears safe.

I picked up a Hains jello substitute at my local health food store. It is
called Hains Superfruits Dessert Mix. Customer specialist Joanne Dimiko (I
hope I spelled her name right) at Hains (516-237-6200) told me that all flavors
of Superfruits are GF. The 'natural flavors' in the ingredients, she said, are
fruits and any alcohol carrier is from corn. They regularily publish a list of
their GF foods and are happy to mail it to anyone who calls the above number.

For those of you who are vegetarian, Superfruits, unlike Jello, does not
contain animal products.
