there is no need to register in advance.  Just show up.  The hotel is
about one block from the river Road elevated station or take the shuttle
bus from the airport.  I found Tammy Nelson was responsive in returning my
call about alternative formats.  If you are requesting the material on
computer disk, be sure to request it in an ASCII text file otherwise it
might be in a word processing file format that you can't use.  I pass
this on as a fyi only.  The federal government spends $2.2 billion yearly
on this system that, as disability rights activist Barb Knowlen
discovered, would rather spend half a million dollars in seven years in
hospitalizations and related complications from bedsores, urinary track
infections and the like instead of spending $5,000 for a standing
wheelchair that would prevent these problems.

RE: Notice of Orientation on the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998 in
Chicago, IL
DATE: August 27, 1998

On August 7, 1998, the President signed Public Law 105-220 which
reauthorizes the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, as part of the
Workforce Investment Act of 1998.  The Rehabilitation Services
Administration (RSA) will be conducting its second public orientation on
the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998 on Thursday, September 17, 1998,
from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.  (Note: The first briefing is being held in
Washington, DC, on September 2).  The Chicago briefing will take place at
the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 9300 West Byrn Mawr, Rosement, Illinois (phone:
847-696-1234).  The Hyatt Regency Hotel is near the O'Hara International
Airport.  The briefing will be held in the Grand Ballroom D.

Sign-language interpreters will be available during the meeting.  Copies of
the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998 will be available at the
orientation for attendees.  If you need a copy of the Act in accessible
format, please contact Deborah Barnes or Tammy Nelson at RSA, 330 C Street,
S.W., Washington, D.C.  20202; telephone (202)205-8299, as they will not be
available for attendees at this meeting.  If you need some other type of
