Hi all,
Saturday night, a thought struck me, and I wanted to share it with you all.
If you have any windows pcs around, and they’re using an Intel processor, those pcs are Mac ready.
Also, that windows keyboard that is connected to that windows pc, that, can be converted into a Mac keyboard.
After you install OS 10 on a Windows pc, then you plug in that windows keyboard, voice over will say, “keyboard setup assistant”, and then it will tell you to type the first key to the right of the left shift key, so you type the z key. Then, it will tell you to type the first key to the left of the right shift key, which of course, is the slash key. Now if it doesn’t tell you to do that, just right arrow until you hear voice over tell you to type the first key to the left of the right shift key, then type that key. Then, right arrow over to the done button, and press up and down arrow, or, press control option space bar, to activate that done button, and now you’ve got yourself a Mac keyboard. The command key is the windows key.
Saturday night, I did that, and now, I have a Mac keyboard that can be used on a Mac, or on a pc. The cool thing is, once you setup the Windows pc keyboard on a particular Mac, then, you don’t have to set up that key board to work with that particular Mac, again.
I was able to unplug it, then, plug it back into the Mac, and, I could just keep typing.
enjoy,
Harry
