Social Media Manager

Northwestern University seeks to employ a varied and diverse

Currently, we have a career opportunity as a Social Media Manager 
with the Kellogg School of Management.


This critical role:

Manages Kellogg School presence on sites such as Facebook, 
Twitter, YouTube etc.  Acquire new connections and followers; 
Engages and retains existing fans and followers.
Trains and mentors students and volunteers to create blogs and 
video content.
Prepares monthly reports to update Marketing Managers and 
Admissions on efficacy and impact; Analyzes content and 
translates anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and 
plans for revising social media content.
Develops outreach plans and manages relationships with social 
influencers including prominent alumni, admissions consultants 
and business thought leaders.
Optimizes social media for search engine visibility; Includes 
most relevant meta-data such as hashtags, geolocation, current 
shorthand, tags, and descriptions for a variety of media types.
Monitors other universities and best practice companies to keep 
apprised of developments.
Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or 
comparable field or the equivalent combination of education, 
training and experience from which comparable skills can be 
acquired.
4 to 6 years' experience with online marketing and managing 
online communities;
Excellent communicator with editorial skills.  Practiced at 
writing for web and social channels.
Proficiency working with popular social media platforms such as 
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIN, Flickr, WordPress and YouTube.
Analytical skills to measure social media impact.
Experience managing projects and working across large, complex 
organizations;
Highly organized, detail-oriented and enthusiastic.
Preferred Qualifications:

Six or more years' experience in online marketing, ideally in an 
integrated marketing environment.
Experience managing 1,000+ member online communities.
Established footprint and proven ability to manage continuous 
professional presence in social media.
