River and Rebecca:

Check your computer's power settings. To do this, press Windows+I, choose System, then choose Power and Sleep. Tab to the settings for your computer's going to sleep and make sure those settings are on "Never". That should solve your problem.

My computer is doing the same thing and I'm also running Jaws 17 and Windows 10. A friend also had this problem and the Mucrosoft Accessibility people told him that an update that came out on August 23rd was really bad and caused these problems. They helped him roll back the update. I'm going to call for help tomorrow.

A new development today, for no reason I can figure out.

If I am not at my computer for a while, I know it's still on, but
there's no speech, and I don't know how to wake it up. I'm using
Windows 10 and Jaws 17, the latest version.
