IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST 

Department:            Finance & Control
Reports to:               Manager of Information Technology  

Basic Job Responsibilities:   The IT Support Specialist helps to ensure
proper technology maintenance and operations so that end users can
accomplish daily business tasks.  Problem resolution may involve the use
of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as hands-on help
at the desktop level, response by email and telephone as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in the field of computer
science, information sciences, or related field required.  Computer
hardware, including printers, server, laptops, Braille Display, and
other adaptive hardware.  Desktop and computer operating systems and
application support experience with SMS, McAfee SMS, Sonic Firewall, and
all adaptive software.

Skills and attributes required:
Good working knowledge of Windows XP/2003 Windows Server  
2000/2003/2008.  Exchange server 2003/2008 implementation experience.
Experience of administering SQL systems.  Good working knowledge of
major 
networking components, network operating systems and basic computer
hardware 
components.  Proven and relevant working experience in a busy, client
focused 
organization.  Hands on knowledge of the procedures used in the
installation, 
modification maintenance and repair of IT hardware and software.
Hands-on 
hardware troubleshooting experience;  Strong oral and written
communication,
including documentation;  Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a
customer 
service orientation that focuses on rapport-building, listening and
questioning
skills;  Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
