Hi there,I'm not an expert, but I do know a bit about the two Kurzweil
programs. 3000 is not completely accessible to those who are blind, because
I believe that not all the dialogs and menus are spoken, though there may be
a setting where you can arrange that. I do know that there are various
features in 3000 that are not at all present in 1000 that would make 1000 a
less than wonderful OCR program for those with learning disabilities. 3000
has some really useful reading and writing aids that people with LDs might
really find helpful. I'd recommend that you get both programs if you have
the choice. You may also want to look into Openbook and Wynnwizard, the two
programs that Freedom Scientific makes for those who are blind and LD
respectively. Also, there are other useful and cheaper or free programs,
such as ReadPlease, which don't have OCR but can read text to folks with
print disabilities. Hope this was helpful.Catherine Armstrong
