Hi there,
First, I'd like to say that I now have a personal vendetta against Dell for
screwing me over last year. My hard drive developed a bad boot sector,
which caused the thing to fail to boot at all. Luckily, the wonderful techs
where I worked at the time were able to save my data with much blood, sweat,
and tears. However, long story short, it took Dell about two weeks to
replace the hard drive (I had a next day service agreement by the way).
upon fixing the hard drive, they managed to trash my sound card. It took
them a further two weeks to replace my motherboard. Meanwhile, my Braille
'n Speak had unluckily also broken, and I was a full-time student with a
computer-intensive part-time job, and I had to use this one computer for all
my computing needs. Needless to say, I had a very difficult semester last
Fall. And I blame Dell for total incompetence, inability to communicate
between departments, and the worst case of passing the buck I've ever seen
in my life.

Now then, on to your question. I have a Dell laptop and Window Eyes. I
went out to Wal-Mart a couple of years ago when I needed a printer and
bought an HP 656 C series printer for $50, and it's worked like a champ
except for one time when it had a paper jam. I don't imagine they make
exactly that model anymore, but if it helps, that combination seems to work
great for me. You might just have a lemon for a printer. That'd be my
guess. Good luck.
