Peter,

Whenever you make a change in vocal eyes with the control backslash key,
you need to go to option 6, "files" and enter it.  Then go to option 2,
save set, hit enter.  The current set file you are working with will be
spoken by name and if you hit enter on that your settings that you changed
will be permanently installed in the set file.  As far as punctuation you
have absolutely complete control over the kinds of punctuation you heard.
This is accomplished with the various punctuation dictionaries.  You can
make a period speak as point, not at all, etc.  You can make a greater
than sign speak as greater, less than speak as less, etc.  There is full
control.  Check out the manuals, the information is there.  Search the
ascii manual for key words like punctuation exception, dictionary, etc.
