I had a similar problem, and Alan Schneider's solution worked for me,
but in addition:
1. The modern versions of VS will ask you if you want to save the
settings, when you try to uninstall them. Answer "No".
2. I also used EasyCleaner between the uninstall and the reinstall
to make sure that I got all references to the old VS out of the
registry.
As to McAfee support, it's getting a lot better. I have used both
their message boards and their phone support which is free "for 30
days from your first support phone call". They answer quickly and
try to be helpful.
What I do object to is the advertising picture at the upper left of
http://www.mcafee.com/centers/support/ . It's silly enough to be
offensive. I wish that some of the feminists on the list would go
down there and give 'em hell.

What do I do to uninstall the OEM

Thank you.
