In response to those that have been having problems regarding Windows XP...

Before using Windows XP:
check the hardware and software compatibility list at microsoft.com (every
version of Windows from 95 and beyond has one)...
check the website of the manufacturer of the device and/or computer (you may
see "fuggetabouttit")...
and perform the upgrade report.

If upgrading to Windows XP, consider performing a "new installation" (you
will need to install all of your software anew).  If there are problems
after performing a "new installation", there will be problems...
