   Try the WD diagnostic file (I have it here at
http://www.esc14.net/troubleshooting/files/pcfiles.htm). That should
tell you if it's toast. Sounds like it has serious problems. I've had a
few drivers exhibit that behavior and they all ended up as junk or
warranty returns.
