     Oh, well in that case it might be your phone company is to blame. A 56k
connection requires one digital to analog conversion, no more. It is
possible that your telephone company was suffering some capacity problems
and have multiplexed your line to increase their capacity in your area. If
you can, try bringing one of the modems to the other location and see if the
same result occurs. Alternatively try a different 56k modem, if a different
model x2 modem results in the same max speed it is very likely that you
won't be able to connect above 33.6 any more unless your Telco switches
