ECC stands for Error Correcting Code. There are extra memory bits
added to the board to provide detection and/or correction of bit
errors. Generally, the available boards will detect two bit errors
or detect and correct one. It's more expensive than non-ECC It is
usually intended for servers and other systems where a crash or undetected
data error is not acceptable.
