Linda, as well as changing the router from dhcp to static, did you also
assign your pc's static ip addresses and setup the gateway, dns to point to
your router's ip in each pc's network properties ?

Thanks for the reply. I first updated my firmware to the newest version. No
change. Then, I did as you said and changed the router from DHCP to static.
I was optimistic that this would correct the problem. No luck...still drops
the connection a couple hours later.

I checked to make sure the NIC is not set to power down...is not. I changed
out the CAT5s with new cable...no luck still.

My latest changes today are to start going through the services and starting
some that were either disabled or not started to see if any make a
difference. The problem in this area for me is that even with the
description of what the service is, I do not always understand exactly what
it does. I am writing them down to keep track of what changes I made because
once I figure this out, I want to systematically turn them off so that I
don't end up with too many things running that are not even needed.

Any other suggestions you may have would be very much appreciated!

Linda
