  Three possibilities spring to mind:

1- Does your LBA setting for this drive match the setting in the
machine where it worked?

2- Is the drive using EX-Drive or some other software?

3- Is the drive formatted using a format that your OS supports?

  KEY: Does the drive still work if you put it back in his machine?
