If the drive you are adding is blank, and the parts you get will live
in this computer till it dies, AND you have no plans to upgrade the
Operating system, EVER, you can get a lot of Ultra ATA hard drive
cards that are NOT compatible with Win-ME for about $10 from
a number of vendors on PriceWatch.com...
The reason for the hard drive being blank?  Some of these cards
"like" (and/or require) you to "zero" out a drive and re-format it while
connected to these cards...
More good news, you can add a LS-120-IDE
and/or a ZIP-IDE while you are at it... (Or some more hard drives.)

Note that adding devices will sometimes move a CD-ROM drive
letter if it was installed a while back.  There are sometimes ways
to "work around" that, but it can also be a big problem if lots of
things were installed from and run from the CD-ROM drive.
I always originally set up a system with the first CD-ROM on "L" when
given the chance... It solves this "problem" in just about all cases...
