Make sure himem.sys is on the boot disk, and the line
device=a:himen.sys is in a:config.sys. You might try
adding the line dos=high to config.sys (although that
is the default, and therefore should be unnecessary).
This is the usual cause I have seen for your error
when users are not using the Microsoft diskette that ships with 98.

Hi,
I am trying to install Windows 98 on a pentium 166, 32 Ram, 2Gb, intel
motherboard. I have created a new boot disk and when I type INSTALL in the
D: , I get this message: (I will try to traslate this message from
french to english), here goes...

THE MAXIMUM PROGRAM SIZE REQUIRED TO INSTALL WINDOWS PROPERLY IS
442 368 BYTES.

I tried MemMaker, but that didn't help. Is there something I can do in
CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT. I simply want to install windows 98!! :-)
