After reading my last post, I wondered if there
was a better explanation as to why a modem
wouldn't connect at a speed that manufacturers say
it will.

Well I found out why and I would like to share it
with all of you. The following url is for CNET.
They have tested some modems and the results are
in. Including why you can't connect at 56K.
