  The sceanrio above works regardless of whether the DSL address(es)
are static or dynamic.  A static address is needed ONLY if

(a) you are providing a server (your DSL provider will probably
discourage this!), or

(b) you will be accessing services that require you to register your
IP address with them, or that depend on "reverse DNS" authentication.
 These are proabably fairly rare.
