First of all, your ISP (Time Warner Cable) uses DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) to assign IP addresses to computers on its network. Each time a computer connected to one of its cable modems initializes, a unique IP address is assigned to it. Standard Roadrunner monthly service only assigns a single IP address per modem. The extra $10 per month that you are paying is so that a second IP address can be assigned to your modem. Roadrunner may not be allowing that second IP address to be assigned. The second possibility, and the more likely one, is that your cable modem is not correctly connected to your hub. The cable modem must be connected to the UPLINK port of your hub. Your two PC's can connect to any of the remaining ports. I would check to make sure that the modem is connected to the correct port. If

It replaces your hub and allows up to four PC's to share a single IP address simultaneously as well as providing security for connected PC's. Go to linksys.com and have a look. You can pick it up for less than $150 and it would save you that extra $10 per month.

Thanks to Steve and everyone that had a suggestion to my networking problem. I checked the RJ45 cable by plugging it directly into the cable modem. With the primary computer off, I started my secondary computer and could connect to the internet. I can connect to the internet with the single computer that is plugged directly into the cable modem. I also checked the hub and all the ports are ok. I just can't connect both computers to the internet at once. I called Roadrunner support tonight and finally got someone that tried to help me. When we got done he said he thought the problem was on Roadrunners end. He thought that somehow I lost my 2nd IP address. They are going to check and get back with me in the next couple of days.
I think I am going to cancel the 2nd IP and look at the suggestions the great people on this list gave me. This is my first time with cable and networking and I really don't know much about it. Thanks again for taking the time to help me, I really appreciate it.
