Greetings,
I had a phone request for help with an HP 5100 scanner that is acting up.  The symptom is multiple "false starts" (I heard over the phone multiple whirrs and grindings).  Apparently this goes on for 11 cycles before the scanner actually completes the scan, which is of good and reasonable quality.  The unit has been working well for the last yearon a Win95 system.
