Hey everyone.....I hope someone can help me...........My Windows98 will not boot up due to an accidental deleting of my HIMEM.SYS. My os was installed by the guy who built my computer and he is in......I shall say, "hot water". So he isn't able to help me with this one. I need to know how to uninstall the Windows98 that is already on my computer (this was his win98 that he installed) so that I can reinstall another Windows98. As I said, I accidently deleted my HIMEM.SYS and my machine will only go so far before stopping. So, I guess this is where the DOS part comes in. I've got a Win98 start up disk that I barrowed from a friend with the hopes of reinstalling the missing himem.sys, but this has done no good. I've boughten my own Win98 CD-ROM and now cant figure out how to install it as when I put the cd in the tray, it doesn't do anything. So, I figure that I'll need to uninstall and do a clean install. Am I on the right track? Any info will be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks millions!
