My guess is that you have two very hot items listed: the athlon 3000+ and the Radeon 9800 pro.  Both generate a lot of heat that needs to be dissipated. That it heats up, shuts down and won't allow a restart for a minute or so sounds like a heat problem. A possible solution would be a front and rear fan arrangement (pull cool air in the front and push it out the back) in addition to the power supply fan, the CPU fan, and the fan on the Radeon.  You might also want to use round data cables instead of flat ribbon cables to get better air flow. Check to be sure all fans you now have are working.
