I have a Zoom 28.8 that I've used for several years and my son has the same
modem that you have in his computer. Mine worked for a couple of years as
a generic 28.8 modem until I got an update file from the Zoom Web site
while I was looking for other information. Using that update seemed to
have no effect on the modem other than changing its name. My son's 33.6
has been running on the Zoom install file from the start so I could not say
for sure, but I believe it would probably not hurt to try just installing
the modem as a generic 33.6. If you have problems, I could probably find
the file on the Zoom site again. Let me know.
