Dear Susan: You can try tweaking your port com. It's quite
easy.Go into your Device Mgr. Double click the
"communications port" branch. Now double click the
communications port to which your modem is attached. Select
the Port settings tab to access its settings. You should
see in "Bits per second"  which should be the default value
which controls the rate at which data flows through the
port. Crank up that speed by clicking on the dropdown menu
and change the setting to 115200. That should help
considerably. Good luck.
