This whole discussion mimics Atkin's ketogenic diet. an area fraught with
anomolies, perhaps dangers. Caloric demand based on physical condition and
physical demand are salient elements for consideration. Jim's reference to
Layman's recent article Dietary Guidelines should reflect new understandings
about adult protein needs should be seriously considered both in discounting
protein requirements as energy requirements since their role is different,
or if cutting carbs, then titrating upward in protein and fat as energy
sources - of profound consideration is healthy brain functioning in
abstentia of carbs.
