I had a friend who had to give up low-carb about 10 years ago because it
made his temper extremely short. I was told back then that too much protein
can make some people aggressive. I heard that this is true of some dogs.
But I do not have any real hard knowledge on the matter.

Does adding fruit cause problems? Could you increase his fresh fruit intake
so that he is not getting such a high percentage of calories from protein?
Cantaloupe and berries are good relatively low-carb fruits you might
consider.
