I don't know the answer to that, but I do know that palm oil is
one of the main dietary sources of tocotrienols, which have been
shown to *reverse* atherosclerosis in laboratory animals.  Heart
disease rates are also low in those parts of the world where palm
oil is extensively used.  The other main dietary sources of
tocotrienols, interestingly, are rice bran and millet.
