I know someone who lives in Ontario and is currently enrolled in a clinical
trial in which they are taking high doses of Vit. D to prevent bone loss and
osteoporosis.

The major drug companies are not real excited about people maintaining
strong bones via natural means (no profit) but there is a growing amount of
support for the importance of Vit. D in bone strength/preservation.

Those of us who are at risk of osteoporosis may consider getting Vit. D from
other sources in addition to sunlight.
