I have lost 40 pounds in 5 months on the paleo diet and I have another
80 - 100 pounds to lose. When I started paleo
just changed my diet slowly eliminating the non paleo foods in a gradual
way. For instance, I still ate crackers but gave up bread.
Then I substituted slices of cucumber for the crackers. I still ate
cheese a lot but with the help of people on this list I
substituted Vegie Slices for a while. I then was able to give up Vegie
slices. Yesterday I went to lunch at a friends house. They had
a large plate of cheese the smell of which made me feel sick. It is hard
to believe that I used to eat that stuff every day and that
it smelled good to me when I was on the SAD.

Do you eat in restaurants or are your meals prepared for you without
much choice?

I find it quite easy to eat in restaurants. I order meat, steak or
hamburger ( without the bun),
eggs and sausage, omelets without cheese, no toast or potatoes, Chefs
salad with chicken but without croutons or cheese.
I ask them to substitute extra vegetables for the potato with my BBQ
ribs or prime rib, or fish.
I find that eating in restaurants too often is boring and I'm glad to
get home to eat my favorite foods again.

Hope this helps,
Michael
