You should read "The Age-Free Zone" by Dr. Barry Sears, PhD (formerly
published as "The Anti-Aging Zone"). It discusses aging in detail,
and examines calorie reduction and other methods, in terms of what is
known about human physiology.

One of the major points is that keeping insulin levels stable has a
profound effect on aging, and in fact, many people on low carbohydrate
diets report improvement in age markers.
